The image is...

Nowadays, the social media shows us a lot of stereotypes about how "the beauty" should be. This situation make us complain about who we are and how would like to look, therefore people start saying " If I could change something in my body, I would be beautiful".

According to the video, some images don't show the reality, some of them are just an excellemt work to represent something that maybe doesn't exist. For that reason, it is worth mentioning, that we should not be influenced by what the media shows.

Furthermore, this social pressure can cause low self-esteem amd it promotes cosmetic surgeries, that in many cases are not necessary and it can put people's lives in danger.

To conclude, it is essential to have a strong self-esteem in order to have criterion. In that way, people could understant  that there is not just one meaning of beauty.

Marriage as a constant struggle

We have always hear that the marriage give stability and tranquility to the people, but in the movie Gone Girl are denoted the constant problems of a couple; dissatisfaction, insecurity, jealously, infidelity and distrust. In consequence of these problems, Nick and Amy begin to pass over and lead a life of appearance. Amy is full of hate for her husband’s infidelity and decides to create a macabre plan to get revenge. The consequences of this plan brings out the worst of each other and this shows that if there is no trust or dialogue in a relationship all can be damage, but despite of those things, this couple decides to go together technically by the force of Amy and because she is pregnant. All that constant struggle and handling can withstand?

My firts painting

I made this painting with the help of my art teacher when I was in ninth grade. It does not have a name but it is one of the things I´ve done that I most like, in this work I used oil. I consider that this is art because through it aesthetic transmitted to the viewer different emotions and experiences, I believe that´s what art is and it is important to have a message.

The message that I wanted to transmit when I did it was peacefulness and harmony because in that time I was very stressed whit some things in my life. On the other hand, I used colors nuances that I love, for example the violet in the sky or the blue in the lake. These varied tones make me feel calm and relaxed. As to the tree and the grass, I like the lighting effect obtained by using white. I think that landscapes like this get that people forget their worries and let people think  in positive thoughts.

Dear Laura:

I remembered our conversation when you told me that you would like to read other types of books aside from horror novels, such as journalistic chronicles or stories based on reality.  Also I think it would be great to show you some of my interests, which are mainly non-fiction stories about the Colombian civil war and war in other parts of the globe.

The first thing I would do if I were you, is reading “Trochas y fusiles: Historias de combatientes” by Alfredo Molano, a very renowned Colombian journalist.  On one hand it can give you a good background in order to understand the origins of FARC, the most important guerrilla in our recent history. The book provides a pretty gripping landscape of members’ experiences and war testimonies as well.

On the other hand, the book is very catchy and easy to follow because it has got maps that illustrate combat zones, camps, journeys, crops from FARC. Additionally there are some awesome maps that guide you through the facts in a chronological order

By doing this, you’ll be able to get a subtle glimpse of Colombian history. If you are interested in other suggestions, please send me an email.
Sincerely,

Luisa Larios.

The social inequality in Colombia

In a world that we can find a lot of different products, services and benefits, we could guest that the people could obtain those goods and possessions, but the actual situation reveals that it is not like that. Not all the people have the same situation or payment to obtain those things and generally people who own many of these properties are part of a very small population. The social inequality is due to lack of goods and services to some sectors of population and the government does not provide enough opportunities for low-income families.

On one hand, the inequality can show a lack of goods and services to some sector of the population. One example of this is the different salaries and payments in the society; you can find people that receive 10000 dollars and people that receive only 150 dollars. Besides this, the cost of products is very high and it is not accessible for all the people. To demonstrate this, we could see the prices of the houses; one apartment in Bogotá could cost 60000 dollars. The gasoline cost 3 dollars, but for the salary of a regular Colombian it is a lot of money. The amount in a good university could be between 1500 and 4500 dollars.

On the other hand, the government does not provide enough opportunities. Even though the government has many resources, it has other priorities. Issues such as international treaties or weapons for national security are the preference of the state. Topics such as opportunities for the people, like work or scholarships, are not the fundamental purpose of the authorities. In fact, only 3.8% of the GDP (gross domestic product) is invested in education. If the government has as priorities the people, we would have a better country.

The lack of goods and services show the social inequality in some sectors of the population and the opportunities for low-income families are not enough because the government does not provide them.
